Lesson #1: Always Check Your Gauge!

I finished my first slipper.. Charity would be proud of me, so I thought. And then I tried it on! What a surprise I got when it was 2-3 inches too big on me!!! So, out came the gauge checker and low and behold, my gauge was 4 stitches to each inch, when it was supposed to be 5 stitches to each inch. So.. I was putting on an extra stitch every inch! Not a good thing. So, if anyone out there wears a size, maybe 11 or 12 women's, this is the slipper for you!

Amanda, This was to funny. I'm sure it might not have been funny for you to spend all that time on it and in the end it not be what you expected, but the picture you posted made me laugh. I needed that. Good luck next time. I sure wish I knew how to do this. You are so lucky!

For what it's worth...the slipper still looks great! That should count for something, right? You did a good job on it anyway.
